This week has been wonderful! I've been spending more time with God and he's definitely at work within me! Thanks for all the prayers and advice! God certainly works in ways we don't know or understand- but this time I can see it- his power and his providence. Thank you all for the support.
It started with Amy and Jeff joining me Sunday for worship and lunch. Aside from somehow ending up in the his needs/ her needs class, services were wonderful! The lesson was what I needed to hear, the singing there is amazing and that always helps me worship and praise, and plus I got to enjoy it with friends. Then I was treated to Landry's seafood- so delicious and way too expensive- but thanks Jeff. We enjoyed part of the afternoon downtown walking around and enjoying the beautiful weather as we walked along the docks.
Sunday night worship was equally wonderful and I'm so thankful that I've found a place to worship God that yes, I enjoy, and where God's love abounds as he is the focus.
Monday I enjoyed some Labor Day barbecue, then continued the job hunt Tues and today. It finally rained here so most everyone is happy for that. I can't say that I am... I won't be going to the beach for the next week (it's supposed to pour tomorrow and for the next week)! I hope I can survive. I know the rain is much needed though, so I am thankful for it.
Oh, and tonight, I went to the singing class. People in there are sticklers for singing the songs correctly- amazing! We even learned new songs by listening to cds and singing them- there weren't many of us (15 or so), but everyone sang out- it was almost like heaven.
See this post (http://lanimarie.blogspot.com/2009/08/why-i-love-corpus.html) to see why I'm so excited that the apartment managers are fogging out the birds. I can't park under a tree (which is hard to find spots not under a tree) without it getting covered in bird poo, I can't walk out of the door without fearing the stuff, and the pools are rather disgusting because of the aviary around the pool. SO, goodbye noisy little pests!
Obviosly this is not my car, and I wouldn't normally put this grossness up, but I don't have any other pictures for this entry and this is an example of almost how bad the birds are.
And finally, on being single. I am perfectly content being single. After my date last night and previous experience, I am VERY happy being single. I don't feel sad and depressed because I don't have a husband. Whether I'm single or married, I'll be happy living the life God has prepared for me. Please stop feeling sorry for single people. Please stop trying to marry us off so our lives will "be fulfilled." Please BELIEVE ME when I say I am happily single. ITS IN THE BIBLE: I Cor. 7:34..."An unmarried woman or virgin is concerned about the Lord's affairs: Her aim is to be devoted to the Lord in both body and spirit. But a married woman is concerned about the affairs of this world—how she can please her husband."
Why everyone thinks you can't be a good Christian until you're married drives me nuts! Paul- Single, and I think we could argue he was one of the most amazing people in God's kingdom. I'm so glad that those of you who are married are blessed in that way, but those of us who are single are also equally blessed by God for other purposes!
