The move is coming along. I have a truck, help moving, an electric company ( I hope Amigo Energy doesn't suck), a place to live, and a dates set. Now I only need a JOB, and a microwave. I can definitely find a microwave- I'm not worried about that one. Oh, and a good congregation... Please pray for me! And Bryana who is trying to move too, but has to get someone to rent her house first- pray for both of us please! We're both moving because we're struggling a lot spiritually with our congregations, life, where we are... we need to find a good support system and congregation to get involved with.
Speaking of which (moving and church), I was thinking today that a Moving Ministry would be great. I know at Edmond Church, where I went in Okla., had this- but it was for members who were moving- which was great for us (thanks for the wonderful help!)- but I think it should be expanded for an outreach. You and a big group of people (at least 5) from your church can advertise (craigslist is free) as a moving company. You can just move people from their rented moving truck to their new home (or something similar). Think about what an outreach that would be?
1) new people in a new town- will be looking for a place to worship and they'll meet y'all first and see your love- so they'll come worship with you
2) new people in a new town want new friends and relationships- invite them to your home while your moving them!
3) save people money while doing a good work (moving isn't difficult with a number of people, plus dollies and moving equipment are cheap investments)
4) if nothing else you can do good for people- showing them that God loves them and that people in XXXXXX congregation care about people! Maybe in 50 years they'll remember and come.
