Here's to Kind, Old Men

I'd like to thank the kind old man that helped me today. After asking 3 people to help me (I only needed to jump my car- I even had the cables and know how to do it), this man helped me- thank you! And to all of you who won't take 5 minutes (or less) out of your day to help someone who is stranded- I hope you are never in that situation! I have never been directly asked by someone "can you give me a jump?" and said "No, I'm in a hurry," or "No we have to get to soccer practice," or "No, I don't know how" - even though I know how and have cables AND what the freak kind of hurry are you in leaving THE MALL?? I'm just amazed at peoples' kindness (granted I'm not being kind here, but when someone needs help like that, you are right there and they are asking for help- at least do something!).

I remember one time in college, I was on my way to my grandfather's funeral. Kels was driving me to the airport around 3 am (kudos to her for that) and had a blowout. No one would help- not even the friends I called (I ended up calling 9-1-1 and having the police to give me a ride to the airport and getting someone I had just met a week ago come get Kelsey's car fixed and get her back). I hope I have never left someone hanging like that- if I have, I sincerely apologize.
This obviously is one of my "pet peeves"- i despise that term though. I think I would even help Osama Bin Laden or Hitler or whoever if they were stranded or needed a ride, a call, or just some simple help! I have many, MANY, faults- but I don't believe this is one of them.
Be kind, help people in need- however you can, and don't just blow them off!

BTW- I bought a new battery today and put it in- since I can't rely on people to be helpful in times of distress. AND, yes I know how to change a tire, but on someone else's fancy-pants corvette, there are all these locks to getting the tire out and off and undone and we couldn't figue it out.
