The first day we went to the College Football Hall of Fame there and experienced the local chocolate and Italian cuisine there. We also spent some time at Notre Dame- I think touchdown Jesus was our favorite part.
We took the train into Chicago the next day and went to the Sears Tower and then Brooke and I ushered at the Blue Man Group show- so we got free tickets. If you haven't seen the Blue Men, it's pretty cool- do it! Later that night, we all headed to the Green Mill Lounge for some jazz/ blues. It was so cool! Apparently Al Capone used to hang out there and store his booze during prohibition. Walking in you felt like you were walking into the 1920s (? some other old decadeif not the 20s) with the live jazz band and the dancing/ dress/ bar. You have to go there if you go to Chicago!
Friday we went to the art museum in the snow- it's a great museum if you like art- which I realized I don't particularly. Chicago pizza from Gino's for lunch, a little shopping in the afternoon, and then the Chicago symphony Friday night. WOW. They played Russian Easter by Rimsky-Korsakov and it was amazing (it's one of my favorite pieces)- the pianist was also pretty great.
Saturday was spent driving home (only 12 hours since it wasn't raining- on the way up it took 14 hours since it poured the entire way). It was a great trip with great friends!
