We have an outdoor cat - thus, we leave cat food outside. Not living in the city, we often get critters eating the cat food. Birds are constantly eating it, but we also have a (or an??) opossum that regularly comes for a snack, a couple of peacocks, and other neighborhood cats. The food is right outside our door.
Tonight, as I was coming in from church, I walked up the steps (while on my cell phone, so not looking where I was going) and met a skunk face to face. I was 2 feet away from that little thing before I ran. Down the steps, through the yard, across the street, and to the neighbor's to wait for Pepe to leave!
I outran the skunk spray- woohoo- and I do not smell like le pew.
btw: I think it was a Hooded Skunk- It had LOTS of white on it, and I actually thought it was cute... (only because I didn't get sprayed). This is according to the always believable wikipedia.
